Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician from the United States. Born on October 20, 1964, she is the 49th Vice-President of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female to be elected vice president, and she is also the highest-ranking female officer in the history of America. As a member of the Democratic Party, she has previously served as attorney general of California from 2011 until 2017, and as a United States senator representing California from 2011 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then she was recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected the city's district attorney. Harris was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010, and was she was re-elected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 to 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who advocated for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. The path to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally recognized. She earned national attention due to her sharp examination of Trump administration officials in Senate hearings, including Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and was accused of sexual assault.
